Why We Mediate

We believe in Civil Discourse, this is in part why we do what we do. Whether it’s a 2 1/2 hr mediation, or like today, only :30 minutes. We strive to reach a settlement that both sides can live with.

As the Judges we work for point out, if a case comes before them it almost always turns out to be a “Zero Sum” game. There’s a winner and a loser. The judges encourage and sometimes mandate mediation. That’s when we step in, either individually or together as co-mediators.

We mediate to reach a settlement that both sides can live with. This gets the case off of the Judges busy docket.

Today went smoothly, because one party was willing right away to work out the issue and the other party was willing to help make it happen. The party that helped facilitate the Mediated Settlement Agreement (MSA), was an attorney. It makes the MSA go smoothly when the attorney is empathetic and insists on helping the other party work through the issue.

We reject hate and are Peace Makers!
